Hannah (2008 – 2025)

Princess Hannah Banana with the Orange Zest joined us at age two after losing her home during the Great Financial Crisis. We found her hiding in the corner of a cage in Janice’s cat shelter in Florida after her sister, Bo (2008 – 2019), realized we had fallen in love with her. While holding Bo as we prepared to take her home, Bo leaned over and gazed back purposefully towards that shared cage to make sure we took a second look.

When Hannah and Bo arrived home, Hannah played and played running like lightning throughout the house until she collapsed. We thought we might have lost her then! When Hannah awoke the next morning, she looked with wonderment all around until she was certain she had not been dreaming.

The first time Hannah saw snow, her eyes gleamed like stars as she marveled at the beautiful white flakes falling so gently from the Pennsylvania sky. Even in winter, she followed the sunshine to bask in.

Determined to be independent, Hannah was skillful, aware and composed yet loving and gentle. She was a splendid role model who shared her wisdom and joy along the way. She is the sweetest pea ever.

Look, look, look.

Lightning bolt of striated orange

As the sun rises on the East horizon.

The shadow of a leaf teases for play

Exalted by the rainbow.

Look. Look who’s there!

Hannah shines in her constellation.
