Winnie, better known as ghoul or squishy, our beloved Great Dane, passed away unexpectedly on June 9th due to what is believed to be a heart-related issue. Though her time with us was far too short, she filled every single day with comfort, laughter, and unconditional love.

Winnie was a gentle giant in every sense — sweet-natured, skittish, and blissfully unaware of her own size. She had an unmatched ability to mirror the moods of her humans, always knowing just when to lean in close, rest her head, and simply be there — in sadness and in joy. She was our not-so-quiet shadow and soft place to land.

She adored all human foods (and we mean all), but especially pizza, chicken, and the ever-elusive slice of American cheese. She claimed our bed as her own, darting up to it at every opportunity, and spent her days happily lounging, dreaming, and snoozing with a toy tucked under her chin.

Winnie also had a love for little adventures — whether it was a quick walk around the block, zoomies on a snow day, or a visit to a local sniffspot, she greeted the world with curiosity and her signature goofy gallop. She had a cherished collection of stuffed animals, and never failed to greet us at the door with whatever was closest — a toy, a pillow, or even a lone shoe — wagging with joy.

She was deeply loved by her parents, who miss her beyond words. And they know, with full hearts, that she loved them back tenfold. Their home, once filled with her big, comforting presence, now holds a quiet that feels impossibly loud.

Winnie gave us the best five years. She made our lives softer, warmer, and infinitely more joyful. And though the pain of losing her is immense, the gift of having known her will forever outweigh it.

We will miss her for all our days.
