You were always right there,

following me from room to room,

just happy to be close.

pure and simple.

You never got tired of fetch,

or chasing that soccer ball like it was your job.

Every little game was your way of smiling.

Now the house is a little quieter,

the ball sits still,

and I catch myself looking for you

in all the familiar places.
