From the Streets of São Paulo to the Heart of America

Tubias was born and raised in the vibrant chaos of São Paulo, Brazil—a city as full of life as he was. A true survivor, he navigated the crowded streets with resilience, cleverness, and unmistakable charm. For years, he lived on his own terms, until fate brought us together and changed both our lives forever.

Eight years ago, we made the journey to America. My friends used to say, "From the streets of São Paulo to the American dream!" And Tubias embraced it all—with curiosity, mischief, and his unmistakable personality.

He wasn’t just a dog—he was an escape artist of the highest order. If there had been a canine version of Houdini, he would have been it. Time and again, he proved he could slip through gates, fences, and closed doors like magic. I used to joke, "I can take Tubias out of the streets, but I can’t take the streets out of him!"

Tubias brought laughter, chaos, and endless affection into our home. He played endlessly with his sister, and when not doing that, he appointed himself the neighborhood’s honorary traffic officer—watching the world go by from the window and making sure everyone knew he was in charge.

His spirit was untamed, his heart was full, and his love was fierce.

Life will not be the same without him.

Though he’s no longer by my side, Tubias will forever live in my heart—as my loyal friend, my greatest teacher in resilience, and the little wild soul who turned a street into a home.
