Carter James

July 21, 2008-October 10, 2025

Carter James was a feisty Yorkie with the biggest personality. He was bought from a breeder in 2008 for $1,000 and it was undeniably the best thousand dollars his mommy ever spent. No one had ears like Carter. They were part of his personality. He tipped the scales at 12lbs, which was big for his breed.  It could have been from his grandparents spoiling him with only the best gourmet meals for 17 years. He loved rotisserie chicken, sprinkle cheese, scrambled eggs and "gravy" drizzled over his food, followed by trail mix for dessert, and a new stick for snack. That is like life of luxury our pampered pooch had, as he shared "joint custody" with his mom and his grandparents.

He loved to play ball and dig through baskets of toys, just to find just the right one.  They all had a name, and he knew every single one on command. He loved to hide his sticks and bones in special hiding spots. He loved to dig and "make his bed" and spin in circles until he got it just right.  He had the best wardrobe, which included fur jackets, outfits for every occasion and Halloween costumes. He was entered in many costume contests over the years.  His head would tilt on cue and the ears would perk up when you said one of his favorite words or phrases which included: "Chicken" "Supper" "You wanna go outside?" "You wanna go buh-byes?" "You want a treat?" "You wanna go Mom-Mom Pup-Pups?" and he would look at you with laser beams in the eyes, squealing, stomping his paws and sneezing until you did what you said you were going to do.

His personality was larger than life and he was so intelligent, learning many tricks over the years. He would "bang! bang! play dead" and "ring the bells" when he had to go potty. Carter had very memorable birthdays, all 17 being celebrated with extensive doggie parties which included his very own portrait on the cake. Aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends and kids would gather around and sing Happy Birthday to the birthday boy, and man did he know he was the center of attention. Not only for his birthday, but every day. He loved going to Mom-Mom and Pup-Pup's "Resort" and often had extended stays at his request, with no additional charge.  He loved sticking his head out of the car window and letting the whole neighborhood hear his yelping as we approached his fur cousins, Brody and Benson's house.  He had many trips to the mall and Booth's Corner to visit Santa and the Easter Bunny and had many photo shoots over the years. He even had a special doggie stroller that Mommy snuck him into the nursing home to visit Mom-Mom Lena, just to be snuck table food by her.

He had everyone wrapped around his little paw and had special routines that he did with each and every one of us. He was there for his mom during many different houses and stages of her life. His senior years didn't slow him down, as he proudly took on the role of big brother to Roman, Lena and Royce, which meant even more photo shoots with his siblings in matching Eagles and Phillies attire. He enjoyed every snack the kids left behind, and was always on crumb duty.  He peacefully entered heaven with a very full belly surrounded by those who adored him, and we know he was welcomed by his loved ones that were waiting for him. There will never be another Carter James and he will be deeply missed by his family, every second of every day.
