Kitty Wise Obituary

On a whim during the summer of 2018, we went to a pet adoption event. It happened to be the last day of the event, hours before they were set to close. We didn’t walk in with any type of pet in mind, but ended up in the cat area. A small girl was curled in the corner of her cage, and she happened to turn her head and catch our gaze. The note on her file stated that she was three years old and had been in the shelter for two years after being returned as a kitten. Her eyes were weepy (from a minor eye injury, we later found out) and something about her screamed that she didn’t belong there.

She was anything but shy, and just wanted to be a part of the action. Within minutes of being brought to a pit-stop at Grannie’s Sunday Dinner, our family had met her and fell in love. She didn’t hide from the slew of people, but rather, told us she wanted to be the center of attention. As soon as she entered our small apartment later that day, she showed us her sweet speckled belly, something that would become her signature pose. She completed our trio from day one.

Over our eight years of loving her, Kitty formed her own fan club. She made friends with every person she met, and loved having visitors. She would follow us wherever we went, even if we left the room and came right back. She loved curling up in the crook of our arm (belly-up) or on top of our heads, but she was always only an inch away from her people giving head butts or letting us kiss your chonky cheeks.

Aside from being a velcro-gal, Kitty adored blanket forts, dramatically screaming for her cat grass, lounging on the patio, and watching birds. She was never far from a warm sun spot, an open breezy window, or her favorite pillows. She’d sit in the corner of the couch or against the base boards propped up like a human, which never failed to make us laugh.

Along the way, she managed accumulate enough nicknames to create an identity crisis. She was our Kitty Butt, Bubby, Pickle, Chickie, Gam Girl, Hambone, Mamas, Kits, Baby Cat- to name a few. The house was always filled with silly songs made up to your name and the pitter patter of your little feet.

We will miss seeing your ears waiting for us through the front door or at the foot of our bed and your larger than life purrs. We will never forget how happy you were to just be with us and how comfortingly but loud your presence was. Your soul weaved its way through our hearts, and no time would have been long enough with our sweet girl. We are so honored that you chose us as your family and will spend the rest of our lives missing you. We love you forever, Bubby.
