Reese Ray Obituary

Reese was born at the end of March 2018 &  8 weeks later he came home with me. That is when my love story with my first fur baby began. Reese had multiple nicknames throughout his 13 yrs. with me, Boobie & Boobers were most common. I taught him to fetch a ball, in which after playing he would sit on it like a hen on an egg. Any time I made tuna, chicken or baked salmon, he was right there waiting for his. I loved giving him kisses & sometimes if he was laying down he would put his paw to my mouth to stop me when he had enough. He was a lover & a biter. Lovable affectionate but could gnaw up your hand if he wasn’t in the mood or got too stimulated. He had some social anxiety around others but eventually he would warm up to some people by pulling his butt up for them to rub him. He loved his carrier, often times jumping in it to sleep or chill but he did not like car rides. The only time I left him at a boarding place was when I went on vacation with my family & I cried like a baby leaving him. He loved sleeping over his grandparent’s house. Initially my mom was leery of cats & they bought a 3 level cage for him to stay in at their house. Then he got a bedroom but the door was kept closed. Then my dad made a gate so the door could stay open & Reese couldn’t jump over it. Eventually my mom let him in the living room if her couches were covered. Their love for him grew just as strong as his love for them. He often made us laugh by the silly poses or things he did.

After an exhausting day at work, I would drive up to my place &  see Reese peeking out through the blinds waiting for me. Once he saw my car, he ran away from the window acting like he wasn’t just looking for me. I’d come in & meow meows would start as if to say it’s time to eat, where have you been. He would wait for me to settle in & sit down to snuggle with me. He use to let me cradle him like a baby but around age 9 he realized he was too old for that. He loved to lay on my chest & lay on my shoulder like a baby as well & that he did till the end.

At the end of 2025, Reese got diagnosed with Early Stage Kidney Disease which we managed well. In beginning of April he was diagnosed with CHF & had many meds but I was determined to make him comfortable. On May 17 th at our last ER visit, doctors found multiple nodules in & around his lungs. It was extremely difficult for me to decide when the right time to put him down was. Wasn’t ready to lose him but not wanting him to suffer & I felt he kept trying his best because he didn’t want to leave either. As much as I wanted him to stay, I knew he was getting tired. I will miss Reese forever & have over a thousand photos & videos on my phone of him to remind me of our time together. We loved snuggling together for hours & I will miss that the most. He was more than a pet or an emotional support animal, he was my baby. He helped ease my anxieties, de-stress & helped me through a very difficult time in my life. A beautiful soul & such a good boy, no one else can match.

Rest in Peace my Love Bug.
