It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to our best friend, Sam. Sam was born on January 6, 2014 and was brought into the Smith family on March 14, 2026. He passed away peacefully at age 12, at home, with his mother and grandparents, on Monday, June 15, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. 

Sam was the best boy. In his younger years, he enjoyed going on long walks and exploring new parks, running after the ball and playing keep away, chasing after squirrels, and doing the zoomies. He loved retrieving the newspaper every morning and bringing it back down the driveway, and then making us chase him. He enjoyed lying in bed and snuggling. He absolutely loved to snack and would stop at nothing to get a treat, even befriending various mail carriers and making great escapes from his yard just to get a treat from the mail carrier. His favorite special treat was McDonald’s chicken nuggets. 

We will miss him constantly pawing at us and staring intently when he wants something. We will miss being followed around from room to room, even the bathroom. We will miss his goofy little smile. 

Sam joins his cousin Trixie in doggy heaven, who passed away in December 2025. He also joins his brother Kosmo aka Bitty Cat who passed away in April 2020, and his cousins Kota, Bentley, and Homer. 

Sam was very loved and he will be forever missed and in our hearts. Until we meet again, Sam. Rest in peace.
