Obituary of Fallon Leshak
Please share a memory of Fallon to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
I’ll never forget the day I brought Fallon home as a 10-week-old puppy. She climbed into my lap on the car ride home and slept there. After that, we were inseparable for 11 years. When she and I first were brought together, I was in college. She and I grew up together. She was my constant through the toughest times, sleeping on friends’ and family’s couches and floors, and walking miles through San Francisco together when we didn’t have anywhere else to go. Even through those most trying times, she never wavered from being the most loyal friend. In our time together, she saw 18 states and lived in 4 - how many dogs can say that?! She’s put her feet in both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans (and hated the sandy beaches, of course). She’s visited the Alamo, the Grand Canyon, the White House, along with countless other memorable places.
When I met Andrew, she loved him instantly and, as much as she drove him crazy, I know he loved her too. Their bond gave me one more reason why I should marry him (she always was the best judge of character), and she was even with us on our wedding day. In addition to Andrew, she has impacted the lives of many, many of our friends around the country throughout the years and the outpouring of love from everyone who has known her has been truly wonderful.
However, one of the most pure friendships I have ever seen was between Fallon and MJ. Before he was born, I was apprehensive as to how she’d treat him, as she was already a grouchy old lady by the time he was born. But the two of them were drawn together and were the best of friends for the two years they shared. Even last night, as MJ, Andrew, and I said goodbye to her, MJ told her he loved her and that filled our hearts with so much joy.
Last, but certainly not least, was Fallon’s friendship with Petunia. They had the funniest of sibling relationships, always bickering and picking on each other, but were always found cuddled together when they thought no one was watching. The fact that Petunia was with Fallon during her last moments will forever give our family comfort, as we know she made her trip across the Rainbow Bridge surrounded by love.
As tough as it is to lose your very best friend, I take solace in knowing that Fallon now is healthy, active, and has perfect eyesight again, playing endless games of fetch in a grassy field under warm and sunny skies. And of course, where she is, there is never a shortage of Mexican blend cheese and Taco Bell bean burritos. Until we meet again, we will keep Fallon in our hearts and memories. We love you, Falmin/Falloneus/Peachfuzz/Fal.
