Obituary of Ivy Ferraro

Please share a memory of Ivy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Miss Ivy Ferraro passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 6.   She was 15 years old.

She is survived by her parents James and Lisa Ferraro and her sister Gracie (bichon/poodle mix).   She is also survived by her feline siblings Angel, Annabelle Lee, Adeline, Katerina, Lily, Abner, Leo, and several of her outdoor feline friends Claude, Topper, Clarence, Josie, Wally, and Patches.

Miss Ivy was a beautiful chocolate lab who was adopted from Faithful Friends.  She overcame many obstacles in life including separation anxiety.  She was a graduate of Playtime Doggie Daycare Obedience School Training; however, in her mind “stay” always meant “come.”

Ivy was not a typical lab.  She didn’t play with toys or play fetch.  She didn’t like water or chasing wildlife.   Ivy loved just being with people.   Ivy especially loved her Mom and they were very attached to each other.  They basically did everything together.  Ivy even spent the night in a bed and breakfast in New Hope, PA so she did not have to be apart from her Mom.

Ivy loved food!   One time her parents came home to find her on top of the kitchen counter eating cat food.  Ivy enjoyed long walks at Rockwood and Bellevue Parks.   She loved meeting and greeting people and their dogs.  She was especially fond of her next-door neighbor Mr. Birch who gave her treats over the fence every day.   Ivy used to bark for him to come outside and give her a treat.

Ivy loved to spend time in her back yard.  She enjoyed laying in her yard, watching her surroundings, and analyzing the air.  She also enjoyed barking at her friend Libby (black lab mix) through the fence.   They played the bark and run game together for many years.

Ivy was always up for a car ride.  When she put her head out of the back car window, she looked as if her snout was going to pass the driver’s side window.   She often rode SOW (Snout Out Window).

Ivy had a kind and gentle soul and was the best dog anyone could hope for.  She was loved beyond measure and is already deeply missed by her family.

Ivy’s family would like to thank the staff at Glen Mills Veterinary Hospital who went above and beyond to keep Ivy comfortable.
