Obituary of Josie Millon Mustaccio
Please share a memory of Josie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Josie became a member of our family back in 2008. Mom had lost her cat to illness and had decided to adopt another. I took her to the Delaware County S.P.C.A that memorable day. There were quite a few people looking to adopt kittens so they were by-passing this one individual. She was full grown, had been hit by a car resulting in pelvic fractures and an amputated tail. Due to surgery, she was shaved and looked a mess. My mother went straight to her and it was love at first sight. The rest is family history. My brother, Jim, was living with Mom and Josie's affection was distributed between Mom and Jim. Of course, we all were treated to some of Josie whenever we came to visit.
When Mom passed away in 2019, Jim moved to an apartment. He was unable to take Josie with him so she came to live with me. She became my constant companion and the nemesis to every bird, rabbit, and chipmunk that passed by her perch in the window. Whenever family and friends came to visit, Josie became the center of attention and she gave back as much love as she received. Josie is irreplaceable and missed with all of our hearts.
"Sometimes when you're feeling sad,
when all you want is me,
I softly jump and curl up in a ball upon your knee.
Some nights when your heart does ache,
worn out by tears you weep,
I quietly lie and softly purr to calm you as you sleep.
Somewhere far beyond this place,
a land where all are free,
I'm calmly watching over you and waiting patiently.
Someday when the time is right your voice will call to me,
and once again I'll softly jump and curl up on your knee."
