Obituary of Laila Houck

Please share a memory of Laila to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Laila was the dog that was not planned but quickly became the most precious family member. Laila was a random walk in the mall with a stop in the local pet store. Laila when we took you home from the pet store in January 2011, you were a mere 4 pounds at 10 weeks old and we were told that there was a one-year guarantee if you were to pass. Well, little did they know that you ended up giving us over 11 ½ years of unconditional companionship, love, laughter, and joy.

You loved to cuddle, car rides, playing with other family dogs, ice cream, and of course all people.  Some people you met that didn’t even like dogs became very fond of you and fell in love with you.  You might have been an undersized boxer, but you were always full of energy and one tough dog.  You fought your sickness to the end, and you were able to spend your last hours on this earth with your family at home on your favorite bed crossing over to your next destination of the rainbow bridge knowing that you were loved. Your wings were ready when our hearts were not! The house does have an emptiness that only you could fill! Our bed does have an open spot in the middle that you once love to fill.  Your favorite sand pit in the yard is dull and grim without you in it.

It broke our hearts to lose you,

but you didn’t go alone,

part of us went with you,

the day God called you home.

We think about you always,

We talk about you still,

You have never been forgotten,

And you never will.

We hold you close within our hearts

And there you will remain,

To walk and guide us through our lives,

Until we meet again.

Thank you for the precious time, all the memories, and for showing us the meaning of unconditional love! You will be truly missed! We loved you your entire life and will miss you our entire lives!

Love always,

Rob and Gina
