Sadie Sheehan

Born: 12/06/2010
Died: 09/20/2022

Our Sadie. She was loved so much by her Mommy and Daddy and our children and
grandchildren. She was such a source of love, joy, and even normalcy when the world changed in March 2020. Sadie was a real fireball of energy and a problem solver. The first day we went to pick up Sadie from the breeder, she escaped from the pen the puppies were being held in. Sadie then tried to show all of the other puppies how to escape. Our Houdini. Sadie lived for playtime. She would play fetch with her collection of bones until her tongue turned purple as she tried to catch her breath. Sadie loved her doggy sibling Simon, and next to playtime, loved to tease the lad. I know she misses him.

Sadie - Go find Julie and Simon and stay with them until we can meet again. Even as our hearts are breaking and the tears flow, we are comforted knowing that you are whole now and free of pain. Love you little girl!

Luke - Written by Mary Oliver

I had a dog
            who loved flowers.
                        Briskly she went
                                     through the fields,

yet paused
            for the honeysuckle
                       or the rose,
                                  her dark head

and her wet nose
            touching
                        the face
                                   of every one

with its petals
            of silk,
                        with its fragrance
                                    rising

into the air
             where the bees,
                         their bodies
                                      heavy with pollen,

hovered-
           and easily
                       she adored
                                   every blossom,

not in the serious,
            careful way
                        that we choose
                                   this blossom or that blossom

the way we praise or don’t praise-
             the way we love
                         or don’t love-
                                    but the way

we long to be-
            that happy
                         in the heaven of earth-
                                     that wild, that loving.
