Obituary of Smokey Frye

Please share a memory of Smokey to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Smokey Frye, Born May 7 2016,  joined our family on July 23 2016 & departed our family, February 25 2023. He was a couple months shy of his 7th birthday. Today, we honor Smokey’s life by sharing how much he meant to us. We fell in love with him the first day we brought him home. Over the years he expressed the love he had for us in various ways like, head butting, cuddling, & always being by our side. Smokey always wanted to be in the center of everything we did around the home & often times tried to participate, even when mom was trying to cook. When the kids played games , he would lay right in the middle & when gifts were being wrapped, he thought he would help out by spreading out on the paper. No one was getting a gift without fur attached to it. He learned everyone’s daily schedule like,  knowing when we came home (often waiting at the top of the stairs), when it was time to eat & bedtime. Most nights he slept in bed with mom & dad , often curling up on mom’s legs. That was until we brought his doggy sister home. She just couldn’t let him share the bed with us , so he decided he would sleep with his big brother & best friend , Chase. Chase & Smokey had a special bond that not even a doggy sister could breakup. As we reflect back on these fond memories, we are reminded of the countless smiles & laughter he brought to our family. Smokey’s time with us was precious & we cherished every moment with him, but now all we are left with are memories of our life together.  On a February 25th, our family experienced a devastating fire that destroyed our home & claimed the life of our beloved cat. Our family lost everything that day, but it wasn’t the loss of our possessions or our home that broke our heart. It was the life of our little boy, a brother , a best friend, a member of our family , our handsome , precious cat, Smokey. Material objects can be replaced, but the life of a loved one can never be. Smokey Frye is survived by his mom, dad, 5 brothers, 1 sister , & 1 fur doggy sister, Lucy.  Our lives were forever changed that day & as we journey along the path of healing , there will be one piece of our family puzzle that can never be replaced, but we know that he will always be with us in spirit. The love we have for Smokey will always be apart of us & we will forever hold him in our hearts. The hardest goodbye’s are the ones you don’t get to say. We love you Smokey & miss you dearly!

Always & Forever
Your loving
Family ❤️

Knowing

If I had known that on that day our time was near the end…
I would have done things differently my forever friend.
I would have stayed right next to you deep into the night…
but I thought I’d see you in the early morning light.

And so I said ‘Good-night’ to you as I walked in through the door…

never thinking of the time when I’d see you no more.

But if I had known that on that day our time was at the end…
I would have done things so differently my forever friend.
