Obituary of Star Fonzone

Please share a memory of Star to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

To our sweet Star,

I never would have thought that responding to a newspaper ad would bring me to the pup that became my best friend and 16 years filled with an endless supply of unconditional love. Coming home to a weiner waiting in the window ready for snuggles after a long day was the everyday norm, but we had countless adventures along the way too.

My college years you were smuggled into the dorms, attended many house parties and bonfires, went on many moped rides, and joined me on road trips around the Midwest. You were always a tough judge of character and tended not to like any guys I brought around. That was until Anthony came into the picture. I knew he was special and you loved him instantly. He became your Dad.

You quickly adapted to becoming a city dog after moving to Philly. Your loved giving the business to passerbys, keeping the neighborhood dogs in line and tricking  Dad into second dinner.

Moving to Delaware gave you back that huge picture window to spend your days lying in. We could tell you were getting older and things were getting harder for you when there was no longer a weiner waiting in the window for us when we came home. Tricking Dad for second dinner, snuggles and bone time were still your favorite pastimes.

You were always ready for adventures.  You hiked multiple parts of the Appalachian trails and swam in the Finger Lakes. Even this past year you made it to three National Parks, swam in the ocean, and rode in a pack for numerous hikes. You also tackled your biggest adventure of becoming a big sister to puppy Oakley, and passed down your knowledge of bone time and snuggles.

You’ve been around for so many monumental life moments. You pulled all nighters with me prepping final projects. You were there for college graduations. You moved across the country. You were the first one we saw after getting engaged. You were a part of our wedding day. You were there when we found out we were having a baby and you’ve been snuggling up with the bump for the last 8 months. I wish our daughter would have been able to meet you and get to experience the love you were full of. We will be sure to tell her stories of how amazing and special you were. I can’t wait to tell her bedtime stories, as I rock her in the chair I rocked you in, of the limping weiner fake outs and the great burger heists. Your memory will always live on and you will forever be in our hearts.

Love,

Mom, Dad, Oakley, and Baby Flora
