Rocky Creek’s Bonnie Blue Sea “Bonnie”
11/03/2008 – 04/13/2024
Born to run agility, she loved it. We competed in eight different venues, earning 177 titles, including 29 major championships in three of those venues. We competed in at least ten states, and travelled through many more. We went to many National competitions where she won trophies, and finished in the Top Ten in the country, once in the TDAA Petit Prix, twice she made the Top Ten list in CPE, and was the 3D Top Dog twice.
She became ill in 2016 and I came very close to losing her. She survived, though with a permanent tracheotomy and no vocal cords. This is when she earned her Warrior designation, and she also became my Wonder Woman. She came back to agility, and we had many more years of competing until she retired in 2023.
She was not without her issues. She had a large personal space, and was reactive to dogs that were too nosy or rude. She also disliked black dogs, though she herself was black! She was not aggressive, but she didn’t tolerate fools.
She was not a cuddler, but was never far away. When she retired from agility, we would still go to watch and see all our friends. We spent Saturday at a trial, where lots of people greeted her. We sat together the whole day. We had dinner when we got home, and a couple hours later, she went into another room, I thought to get a drink. When she didn’t come back, I went to find her and found her already gone. Her final gift was spending that day doing what we both loved, and saving me from making the final decision for her. She always did it her way.
