Obituary of Charlie Miller

Please share a memory of Charlie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Adopted on Valentine’s Day, Charlie was a true lover boy. The minute his Mommy picked him up, he started purring with a “motor” so loud, she just knew he was the one. Charlie quickly showed how grateful he was to be part of the family by always wanting to be near us.

Charlie loved to lay by the sliding doors on his blankie watching the birdies and the squirrels or bathing by the floor vent in the winter. He especially loved an ice cube in his water bowl and when dinner involved a creamy gravy. Charlie was very vocal about breakfast and dinner time, but also extremely patient. He would quietly lay outside the bedroom door waiting for Grammy to wake up to feed him. He would often lay behind her head on the back of the couch while she worked late. He was not at all needy for attention, but simply satisfied to be near someone.

He picked out the best Mother’s Day gifts, each one cat-themed and Mommy’s style. He enjoyed playing fishy, “where go light?” and zig-a-zee and never questioned why his humans made up such silly words and phrases for him. Over the years, he accumulated a variety of nicknames: Kooky Pooky Boy, King Charles, Challie, and his favorite … Poo Poo Charlie.

He shared such a special bond with his Daddy. They were one in the same with a love for routine. From laying on the kitchen table while Dad read the daily paper, to sitting on Dad’s lap in the recliner, to hanging out with Dad in the basement at night, he knew that he would always be safe as long as Dad was around. He knew by Dad’s silly, animated walk over to him that he was about to get a handful of yum-yums and without a doubt, he knew that he was loved.

We thought that we would have many more years with Charlie. We will miss his soft nose kisses, silly sleeping positions and seeing him under the Christmas tree or by the Thanksgiving dinner table waiting for turkey. Life will never be the same without our Charlie Boy and his unconditional love.
