I’ll never forget the first time I met Pepe. As I was visiting Sue and Cal in the farmhouse, Pepe came over to me, buried his head in my lap, looked up at me with those big dark eyes as if to say, “You’re welcome here.”

Watching Pepe blossom in your care in the early days always warmed my heart. Little did I know the love and care you provided him these past few years would melt my heart. I am sorry it was time to say goodbye. Pepe is running free now, like he did those many years ago. He is happy, and carries all of your love with him. I will never forget Pepe. He was just one of those dogs. Much love to you both during this sad time. I am adding my favorite picture. It pops up in my memories every year around this time, and always makes me smile.

I love that picture - that I saw on the shelter's fb page looking for a home for him. As I've said before, Pepe was so lucky you were there to exercise him and help ease his kennel stress, as he came there from a home and must have felt abandoned. He was my best buddy, my couch potato pal, my happy greeting every morning, my inspiration to persevere.

Dear Pepe, You were the sweetest boy going through the toughest trial, accompanied and loved by the most caring and attentive people you could’ve ever asked for. Your resilience and their devotion allowed you to continue living your best life! Since we met during your fighting years, I loved hearing stories about your golden days. I think I can speak for Pepe to say he loved all the many many times you gave him laser treatments along with lots of good love energy - he of course thought it was a spa day! I love this picture of the two of you - good memories of seeing my prince swooning to the attention, and fun chats with you that helped keep my spirits as high as Pepe's.
