Obituary of Topspin Rodgers

Please share a memory of Topspin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Toppy came to live with our family in October, 1999. He was four months old and a 13th birthday gift for our youngest daughter, Lisa.

He was something special from the day we brought him home. Intelligent, stubborn, funny, loving... and very independent; especially for his breed.

Toppy loved to eat. He didn't miss many meals and also enjoyed laying in the sun in the back yard.  He wasn't much for other dogs and basically tolerated his brother, Max and sister, Layla; also Chihuahuas.

However, he loved his people, especially, Lisa. They did everything together. He attended her high school and college tennis matches and visited her in her dorm when she was away at school. He nursed us all through sickness and was a great comfort to us during the deaths of several family members

Toppy was an important member of our family. He began to slow down at the age of 15, and eventually, lost his sight and hearing. It was necessary to carry him outside a few times a day, but he continued to eat.

On the day he turned 18 ½ we knew a decision needed to be made.

He was our very first dog and we had never experienced the loss of a close pet.

Toppy will never be forgotten. We miss him very much.
