“Cali-girl, you are my world! I need you each & every day!”
On January 27, 2023, Cali Ann Smith peacefully left this earth in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by love and all her toys.
Cali chose me to be her mom and lifelong companion on January 28, 2012. We met at Francisvale Animal shelter in Radnor PA, during my first search for a dog. The staff suggested meeting Cali, a 5-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog mixed with Border Collie, who was owner-surrendered (for no good reason). Cali bounded into the room, jumped up next to me, licked my cheek once (told she NEVER licked anyone), then straddled her body over mine to say, “You are mine!”. Within two weeks, she was home. I am grateful and blessed to have spent the past 11 years with her.
She loved mommy the most, but she had enough love to share with others. She will be loved and missed by her extended family Mammy, Mamma-bear Lois, cousin Nathan, Uncle Norm, Aunt Jenn, and by her ‘other family’, Uncle Arthur, Auntie Becca, Aunt Cari and all mommy’s friends and neighbors.
Cali loved life and enjoyed so many things: walkies, ride-rides, digging holes, chasing bunnies/squirrels, making snow angels, squeaking squeaker ball, nibbling stuffed toys, eating ice cream, snuggling with mommy, and so much more. Now, she is enjoying zoomies with her doggie cousins Sadie & Shelby, her boyfriend Jake, and all her other doggie friends that preceded her over the rainbow bridge.
She will be loved and missed forever. There will never be another companion as wonderful as my Cali girl.
